Artist Davenport Speaks on Her Work and Southern Narrative Art

Brenau University Galleries welcomes artist Rebecca Davenport, who will give a free and open-to-the-public gallery talk, 5 p.m., Thursday, March 24 in Simmons Visual Art Center, 200 Boulevard NE, Gainesville, Ga.

Davenport will discuss her artwork as well as her artistic style and the literary connections that influence her. Brenau's current "Southern Trace" exhibit is open now through March 25

The event is followed by an open reception, generously sponsored by Publix Super Markets Charities.

Southern Trace: Telling Stories in the Art of Benny Andrews, Rebecca Davenport, William Dunlap, Red Grooms, William King, Sally Mann, Ed McGowin, and Faith Ringgold - narrative art at its best, where artists' pictorial tales relate to all, portraying people, their families, homes and landscapes.
