Brenau Welcomes MICAS Founder, Bey

Brenau University and President Ed Schrader welcome George Bey Ph.D. - who is making a unique learning experience available to Brenau students and faculty - to campus Feb. 28 - March 1. Bey, associate professor of anthropology and archeology at Millsaps College, is the founder of The Millsaps Interdisciplinary Center for Cultural American Studies (MICAS) program, which offers undergraduates the opportunity to engage in graduate level, hands-on research. Participants in Bey's program will have the opportunity to live and study in Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula this summer. Students meet with Bey to get more information at the time and place shown in the article above.
Faculty and staff meet with him at 12:15, March 1 in the Wilson Room.
Information from the Millsaps web site describes the program:

Archaeologists, scientists, and students from Millsaps College, the Autonomous University of the Yucatan, and the National Institute of Anthropology and History (Mexico) work together with students and researchers from American colleges and universities to preserve and explore archaeological treasures, protect the fragile ecosystem, promote research and educational tourism, and involve current and future material culture and living communities.
