The latest edition of “U.S.
News and World Reports” lists Brenau University in its category, ‘Great
Schools, Great Prices.’ In “America’s Best Colleges 2006,” released
Thursday Aug. 18, Brenau is #10 in the best value category among all
master’s universities in the South.
Under a heading of ‘Great Schools, Great Prices,’ the national magazine
cited Brenau as offering best value. The rankings directly relate academic
quality to net cost of attendance. Only schools in the top half of their
category are included, according to the report, on the premise that the
most significant values are among colleges that are above average
academically.
“U.S. News and World Reports” evaluates academic quality using a formula
based on peer assessment; retention; faculty resources; student
selectivity; financial resources; graduation rate performance, and alumni
giving rates.
Brenau Institutional Research Director, Robert Cuttino, Ph.D., said that
Brenau did well on the evaluation because its retention rate was good,
class size is small, the student to teacher ratio is low and Brenau scored
well on the percentage of full time faculty who teach.
“We’ve long known Brenau gives its students an excellent education and
value for their tuition,” said Helen Ray, Ph.D., vice president for
academic affairs and provost. “We are proud to be included in the list of
best value campuses.”
