Brenau University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097: Telephone number 404-679-4501) to award bachelor's, master's and the specialist in education degrees.
Brenau Academy is accredited by the Commission on Secondary Schools of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097: Telephone number 404-679-4501) to award secondary diplomas. The school is also approved by the Georgia Department of Education.

- The SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND MASS COMMUNICATION is accredited by the IACBE - International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education for all business programs undergraduate and graduate.
- The BS/MS degree in OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), 4720 Montgomery Lane, P. O. Box 31220, Bethesda, MD 20824-1220, 301.652.2682.
- EDUCATION: Brenau's teacher preparation programs are approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education

- ART AND DESIGN DEPARTMENT –
- Interior Design Program: Since 1993, the Interior Design Program has been continuously accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation, CIDA, (formerly FIDER). The program leads to a combined Bachelor of Fine Art/Masters of Interior Design. Accreditation in 2007 is for six years, which is the maximum awarded. As strengths of Brenau’s interior design program, the Commission’s reviews have noted the well-developed curriculum and the close relationships among the faculty, the community, industry, alumni, and the profession, and NCIDQ qualified faculty.
