Season Outlook
2008-2009
The swim team at Brenau University will be a much different group than last season with the addition of eight new swimmers to go with a trio of sophomore returners. Back for her sophomore year after an outstanding performance at the NAIA Nationals last March is Melissa Bofto (Warner Robins, GA). Bofto swam personal bests in five events and placed 14th in the B Final Intermediate. Also returning is Lindsay Duprey (Warner Robins, GA), who placed 11th in two events (200 free and 500 free) at nationals. |

The third member of the group, Sarah Fell (Brunswick, GA), had her best meet of the season at nationals, recording an 18th place finish in the 200 breast. Two sophomores head up the list of new swimmers, Jamie Maxie (Cumming, GA) and Lucinda Paschal (Athens, GA). The six freshmen who have been added to the roster include Julia Ferreira (Indaiatuba, SP-Brazil), Megan Greely (Martinez, GA), Lauren Harville (Stockbridge, GA), Kate Hoersten (Eatonton, GA), Lucianne Kimura (Mogi das Cruzes, SP-Brazil) and Carolyn Minchew (Acworth, GA). Even though the team will be young with no upperclassmen, they should be very competitive as they try to qualify as many swimmers as possible for the national meet in February. The team will compete in several meets during the season in preparation for the Appalachian Conference Championships, where they placed 5th out of 10 schools last year. Then, it will be on to NAIA Nationals and the hope of improving on last season’s 13th place finish.
